First Inter-Club BBQ for 2018 at Norwich LBC

NORWICH LAWN BOWLING CLUB
JUNE 22, 2018

Although the Norwich Lawn Bowling Club will not be hosting a tournament until Monday June 25th’s NorPac mixed triples event, the club members have definitely kept busy.

Many of our bowlers regularly compete in tournaments at other clubs in the region.  In the past week, Norwich teams competed in tournaments in Aylmer and Embro (the Thamesford tournament was unfortunately cancelled).  In each of these tournaments, Norwich teams placed in the top 5.

Lawn bowling in Norwich has always been ore than just tournaments.  Our Tuesday and Thursday jitneys are well attended by club members.  The Thursday jitneys are followed by refreshments and fellowship in the clubhouse and the top bowlers of the night receive prizes that have been donated by local businesses.

In addition to our usual Tuesday and Thursday games, NLBC hosted it’s first Ladie’s Night event on June 15th.  Anyone walking past the greens on Friday evening may have seen a group of women laughing hysterically, standing in a circle around the edge of the green, playing a variation of bowling and just generally having a whole lot of fun.

There is a new codeword amongst the women in attendance.  It will be difficult for any of them to hear the word ‘Ha’ without laughing or at least smiling, and answering with ‘Ha Ha’.

On Tuesday June 19th, Norwich LBC hosted the Thamesford club for a friendly match and barbecue.  Twenty four people from both clubs enjoyed a barbecue dinner with burgers donated by NorPac followed by a 12 end jitney.

Norwich LBC members bowl every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7pm.  Anyone who is interested in giving it a try is encouraged to come out -visitors are always welcome.  The lawn bowling club is located on Stover Street South, with the entrance off Carman Street.
